Cognitive-communication disorders can affect an individual’s ability to think, process information, organize thoughts, problem solve, attend to tasks, and function independently in daily life. Services are provided for individuals experiencing cognitive changes related to stroke, brain tumors, traumatic brain injury (TBI), Parkinson’s disease, dementia, primary progressive aphasia, and other progressive neurological conditions.
Treatment focuses on improving and supporting cognitive skills including memory, attention, executive functioning, problem-solving, processing speed, organization, visuospatial skills, reasoning, and functional daily communication. Therapy is highly individualized and incorporates evidence-based cognitive strategies, compensatory supports, environmental modifications, and caregiver education to maximize independence and quality of life.
Care is approached with compassion and understanding, recognizing that cognitive changes impact not only the patient, but also their family and everyday routines.
